My current new passion for cooking was the most unexpected. However, it has been welcomed with open arms here in my home. Starting today, there will be a new section on my blog: #CookingWithChantal It’ll feature all the concoctions I come up with/try to recreate! Today’s recipe is a not so new spin on the already delicious turkey burger.
Something one might not know about me is my kind of ridiculous obsession with cheeseburgers. One time, this Buzzfeed quiz made me choose hypothetically between cheeseburgers every day for the rest of my life or a weekend in bed with Jake Gyllenhaal. I also really love Jake Gyllenhaal. You could say I was torn. Also, I would definitely travel to certain places in this world just to try their cheeseburgers. For example, In N Out, Shake Shack, Whataburger, Citizen Burger, etc.
Unfortunately, traveling for cheeseburgers can be a tad expensive. And by making them at home, they’re much healthier and inexpensive. After one of the many afternoons of perusing Pinterest, I found this recipe and I had to try it! Check out my photos and summary of the recipe and instructions below! Let me know if you try these on your own 🙂
The ingredients used were:
1lb lean ground turkey
Cut Leaf Spinach, Frozen
1 package of Feta Cheese
1 large egg
1/2 cup Oats
Olive Oil
First, I made sure my ground turkey was thawed out! Then, I mixed all of the ingredients in a medium sized bowl. I cooked the spinach in the microwave, but put it back in the refrigerator to cool for about 20 minutes. If I hadn’t, the spinach would have been too hot to cook with raw meat. Thanks for that tip, Mom! 😉
After mixing the ingredients in the bowl, I was able make 4 patties! Double the recipe if you need more.
Although not pictured, I grilled the burgers in a stove pan. I didn’t want to burn them, but they needed to cook thoroughly. So, I turned the oven on to 400 Farenheit, and baked them until they were done!
And finally, bon appetit! I garnished my burger with avocado for a finishing touch. I would usually put all the fixings on it including a bun, but I was in a hurry! I hope you enjoyed this post because a lot more like it will be on the way soon!
Happy Sunday,
xx – Chantal
